Code of Conduct

1. General Conduct

  1. 1.1 All members, including Board of Directors, CEO, and key stakeholders, shall conduct themselves professionally, respectfully, honestly, and transparently, and comply with laws and regulations governing cooperative societies.

2. Confidentiality

  1. 2.1 All members shall keep confidential information of the Society and its members confidential and shall not disclose it to third parties unless required by law.

3. Conflict of Interest

  1. 3.1 Members shall avoid conflicts between personal interests and the interests of the Society or its members, and shall not use their position for personal gain.

4. Non-Discrimination

  1. 4.1 Members shall not discriminate against any member or employee based on race, color, religion, gender, age, national origin, disability, or any other protected characteristic.

5. Fairness

  1. 5.1 Members shall treat all members and employees fairly and impartially and shall not use their position to discriminate.

6. Transparency

  1. 6.1 Members shall ensure financial transactions are transparent and accurate and that financial records are maintained according to applicable laws and regulations.

7. Compliance

  1. 7.1 Members shall comply with all laws and regulations governing cooperative societies and ensure all Society activities are conducted lawfully.

8. Responsibility

  1. 8.1 Members shall take responsibility for actions and decisions and be accountable to the Society and members for actions affecting the Society or members.

9. Ethical Conduct

  1. 9.1 Members shall conduct themselves ethically and adhere to the highest standards of ethical conduct in all dealings with the Society and members.

10. Professional Development

  1. 10.1 Members shall improve their knowledge, skills, and abilities and participate in professional development activities that enhance service to the Society and members.

11. Board of Directors

  1. 11.1 The Board of Directors shall exercise duties in accordance with the Multi State Cooperative Societies Act and act in the best interests of the Society and members while avoiding conflicts of interest.

12. CEO and Key Stakeholders

  1. 12.1 The CEO and other key stakeholders shall act in accordance with policies and guidelines established by the Board of Directors and in the best interests of the Society and members.

13. Annual General Meeting

  1. 13.1 The Society shall hold an Annual General Meeting in accordance with the Multi State Cooperative Societies Act. Members shall receive notice, agenda, and opportunity to participate and vote.

14. Complaints and Grievances

  1. 14.1 A member with a complaint or grievance related to conduct of any member, Board of Directors, or CEO may submit a written complaint to the Grievance Redressal Committee. The Committee shall investigate and take appropriate action.

15. Disciplinary Action

  1. 15.1 Any member who violates the Code of Conduct may be subject to disciplinary action, including termination of membership or legal action as appropriate.

16. Record-Keeping

  1. 16.1 The Society shall maintain records of all meetings, decisions, and actions taken by the Society and members in accordance with the Act and relevant laws and regulations.

17. Reporting Requirements

  1. 17.1 The Society shall comply with all reporting requirements under the Act and relevant laws and regulations, including annual reports to the Registrar of Cooperative Societies and other required reports.

18. Dispute Resolution

  1. 18.1 Disputes related to conduct of the Society or members shall be resolved through mediation or other alternative dispute resolution methods. If mediation fails, the dispute may be referred to the Registrar of Cooperative Societies.

19. Code of Conduct Review

  1. 19.1 This Code of Conduct shall be reviewed periodically by the Board of Directors and updated as required under the Act and relevant laws.
  2. 19.2 Specific policy or byelaws in addition to these general guidelines shall be read along with this Code of Conduct.
  3. 19.3 By adhering to these guidelines, the Society can remain compliant while promoting savings and availability of credit among its members.
